UX Research
Overview
I interviewed 5 professional wedding planners and
gaining insights on user needs and pitfalls to avoid, guiding future design decisions.
Key tasks to pay attention to:
Frustrations and main issues found:
Miscommunications with clients might lead to delays and mistakes.
Juggling between meetings while focusing on every client individually.
Storing client information in ring binders leading to a cluttered system.
Budget constraints and track on spending limit.
Research Goals
We want to identify key pain points and optimize features to enhance organisation, efficiency and client management for wedding planners.
Why did I choose the dashboard to address these issues?
Because wedding planners are busy and needed a single system where they could effectively multitask and manage each and every client.
To ensure the layout was easy to navigate for wedding planners:
1. Main Dashboard: A high-level snapshot of the planner's ongoing weddings. It includes:
KPI's : Quick insights on weekly wedding counts, vendor confirmations, and cancelled meetings.
Bar Graph : Visualizing weddings per month and tracking budget allocation
Weekly Schedule : Weekly timeline with scheduled meetings, tasks, and key events to help wedding planners stay organized and on track.

2. Clients: The clients menu in the hub for managing all wedding couples in a structured table format.
Client List: A sortable table displaying all clients with quick-actions like edit client info, delete, or go to Workspace to focus on that client.
Add New Client : Allows the planner to add a new couple, ensuring all necessary details are captured.

3. Workspace: A deep dive into each wedding couple. It transforms based on the selected wedding couple (aka: client) offering planners a detailed view of their client's progress individually. It includes:
Empty State: Initially, the planner sees a guiding message with a playful illustration, prompting them to search for a client.
Select a Client: A side popup allows planners to filter, sort, and search for a specific wedding couple.
Client-Specific KPIs: to track wedding milestones
Financial & Guest Charts: for financial and event logistics.
Task & Transaction Management: Dedicated cards for tracking wedding-specific tasks and recent transactions.
Inspiration Gallery: A visual collection where planners can upload, edit, or organize wedding inspiration images using tag-based filters.
Members list: Manage all members, including guests, vendors, and family members, with filtering options for easy organization. New members can also be added.

4. Meetings: Helps planners efficiently manage and track all their scheduled meetings across different wedding couples. It includes:
Filters: Easily organize meetings by date to keep the schedule manageable and avoid overwhelm.
Chat Access: Enter dedicated meeting chats to communicate directly with wedding couples during the meeting.
Invite Participants: Seamlessly add vendors, family members, or other key participants to meetings as needed.

Product Roadmap
Along with an intuitive and predictable design and based on wedding planners interviews, I noticed a pattern of user needs and frustrations. I also created a list of features to determine must-haves for a SaaS platform using the research insights.

UI Design
Background
Why did I choose this color for my dashboard menu?
The color code #222449 represents the dark-blue range of most of the suits that the grooms usually wear at the ceremony.
It also fits perfectly to the white color palette that represents the bride's pure and innocent white dress. Both represent harmony, yin and yang.
Why did I choose Inter as the main font?
Inter ensures that all text elements remain clear and visually appealing with well-defined weights and spacing.
Inter is like the wedding ceremony itself—timeless, structured, and universally understood. Just as wedding traditions bring people together across cultures, Inter is a font that unites different digital experiences with consistency and reliability. It carries a sense of familiarity and tradition, much like the vows exchanged at a wedding—something both classic and modern, standing strong through time
